Que debo tener en cuenta para poder hacer funcionar esto?

Debe mirar de que fabricante es el modem, modelo, etc. y con google encontra varios manuales y datos a tener encuenta para la instalacion, por lo general estos dispositivos son muy sencillos de instalar. solo es dar un par de datos y listo

averigua primero si tu router esta preparado para ADSL o CABLE MODEM.. no es lo mismo, aunque ya algunos son duales. Es importante entre tantas cosas en tu configuracion del router que conozcas el DNS de tu operador (TELEBUCARAMANGA), especifiques el tipo de seguridad (WAP # bits,WEP) para que se no se te cuelguen intrusos. Todo esto y mucho mas lo encontraras en el manual

Como lo han comentado muy amablemente nuestro compañeros, debes tener en cuenta varias cosas:
1. Si Modem esta configurado como enrutador, hay que hacer un cambio, colocarlo en modo bridge o puente para que el enrutador sea ahora tu nuevo equipo. A este hay que colocar la IP válida y toda la información requerida para hacer al conexión al proveedor. Esto para el caso de telebucaramanga.
2. Si es TV cable se tiene que tener un configuración similar pero partticuar para cada proveedor.
3. Parámetros de seguridad. Para evitar que se te cuelgen a tu internet.
